Dr. Jala Garibova is a Fulbright Scholar currently doing research in sociolinguistics. Her areas of interest are language and identity relationships and language policy issues in Azerbaijan and the post-Soviet Turkic Republics. Dr. Garibova teaches sociolinguistics at Azerbaijan University of Languages. She is developing a textbook on sociolinguistics for Azerbaijani students as her Fulbright project.
Her published work includes articles, book chapters, and books on language policy and linguistic attitudes in Azerbaijan and the other post-Soviet Turkic republics, language legislation in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and language and identity relationships in the post-Soviet era.
