Greetings, IAUNRC community,
As the spring 2025 semester draws to a close, we look back at a semester during which the center’s activities were fulfilled smoothly despite considerable uncertainty about federal funding. Among many individual lectures was one by the former US ambassador to Mongolia, Michael Klecheski, on how to navigate complexities of international and bilateral relations. Our signature academic year series on Environments in 21st Century Central Eurasia continued during the spring, with focuses on urban environments in Mongolia, ecotoxicology in Turkey, and inland aquasystems in Hungary. Planning ahead for fall 2025 and spring 2026, the lecture series will turn to security issues across 21st century Central Eurasia. We bid farewell and all success to three invaluable GAs: Tanir-Vefa Avci, Matt Hulstine, and Lindsay Ruth. I thank our ever-efficient assistant director Kasia Rydel-Johnston too. May all of you have a safe, productive, and restful summer.
Best wishes,
Jamsheed Choksy
