Ambassador Battsetseg Shagdar was born and educated in Mongolia. She joined the Mongolian Democracy movement in 1992, the Mongolian Government services in 2006, and the Mongolian Foreign Service in 2014. In a career spanning just over 34 years, she served in various positions in the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Mongolian Missions abroad in Indonesia, Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Columbia, Dominican, Uruguay, and ASEAN. In her presentation, she spoke about various governance issues and to what extant the world governments had an important role in the governance process. She spoke about the differences between autocratic and democratic regimes, as well as Mongolia’s role as a peacemaker between them. A portion of the lecture was also devoted to discussing technological, economical, and social advances. Ambassador Battsetseg Shagdar emphasized the need for greater diplomacy in the word and the need to pursue changes that could lead to more effective, efficient, and equitable governance.
