The Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center at Indiana University recently sponsored Finnish band Kardemimmit at the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival 2019, held in Bloomington, Indiana. They played the Finnish national instrument - the kantele (similar to a zither or dulcimer) - and performed traditional songs. The band write their own music, but their work is founded in Finnish, Eastern European, and Scandinavian traditions.
